Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) on October 22, 2019 welcomed a team of thirteen (13) interns placed to practice in the Hospital for a period of one year.
Addressing the interns in his boardroom, the Hospital CEO Dr. Wilson K. Aruasa said the opportunity the interns have received through the placement is a milestone to them and that they should utilize to their benefit and that of the patients.
The CEO who was accompanied by Senior Managers made it clear to the interns to carry out their work in a manner that complies with the laid down Hospital procedures. Three of the interns were placed in the services of the Hospital in July 2019 by ICT Authority, while the ten came through Public Service Placement.
He urged them to work with staff as colleagues and learn from them in the process.
As a teaching Institution, Dr. Aruasa pointed out that the work processes of MTRH are tailored to mentor future workers and leaders in healthcare provision.
The CEO reminded the interns who are drawn from various Departments- ICT, Medical Social Work, Pathology, Public Health , Nutrition and many other clinical specialties; to strive to learn and carry out the business of the Hospital with integrity and transparency.
Dr. Aruasa also said MTRH is working collaboratively with Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH), Othaya National Hospital, Spinal Injury Hospital and Mathari National Hospital to handle complex conditions and in the process, attaining Government of Kenya pillar of Universal Health Coverage(UHC).
