Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) CEO, Dr. Wilson K. Aruasa, MBS, today 24th July, 2020, received a donation of VacStation machine from Eighteeth Company, through Savemore Dental Supplies Limited, Nairobi.
VacStation Equipment is a multi-filtration unit which removes 99.97% of all airborne particles and pathogens, decreasing potential spread of infections including COVID-19 and other diseases.
The CEO, accompanied by Dental Services Directorate led by their Director, Dr. George Mwai received the machine from Dr. Benjamin Simiyu of Savemore Dental Supplies Limited for use in Dental, ENT and Endoscopy Units as well as in Theatres for all aerosol-generating surgeries/ procedures.
The modern equipment uses UV radiation to kill any viruses or pathogens in the air including COVID-19.
Dr. Aruasa said the donation came in handy at a time when MTRH is implementing COVID mitigation/recovery strategies, with staff safety being a top priority.
He lauded Dental Directorate for leading in the development of COVID-19 protocols and MTRH staff as a whole for their exemplary responsibility, diligence dedication and passion.
The CEO appreciated the donor and reassured staff of continued support from Hospital Management while delivering on their mandate with emphasis on flexibility, continual learning and adaptability at such difficult times.
Present during the ceremony were: Dentists and Dental staff, COVID-19 Taskforce (Treatment and Communication teams), Supply Chain Management and Resource Mobilization.
