The Kenya Medical Research and Training Institute (KEMRI) Fleming Fund team led by Prof. Sam Kariuki, Director Research and Development today paid a courtesy call to Hospital Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Wilson K. Aruasa, MBS. He was accompanied by Dr. Willie Sang – Deputy Director, Centre for Microbiology Research and Dr. Robert Onsare – Senior Research Scientist and Head of Unit, Centre for Microbiology Research.
The Fleming fund aims to support counties to generate data relevant in informing policies and practices which will optimize the use of microbial medicines.
The team intends to strengthen the existing laboratory services, improve existing infrastructure, sensitization, continuous training and mentorship.
Prof. Kariuki also donated a box (containing 42pcs of 500ml) of Kem-Rub sanitizers a product of KEMRI as their support towards the Hospital’s infection prevention and control measures during this Covid-19 period.
MTRH CEO said the Hospital enjoys a cordial working relationship with KEMRI and that the two Institutions have ably supported the Government response to COVID pandemic.
He added that MTRH fully supports the multi-agency antimocrobial project and the Fleming/ KEMRI AMB project.
