Monday 22nd March , 2021 during signing of UHC MoU between County Government of Busia, NHIF and MTRH-AMPATH at Port Victoria Sub-County Hospital, Bunyala, Busia County.
MTRH-AMPATH finances enrolment of a given number of indigent households in Bunyala Sub-County plus offers EHRS, trainings specialized referral services whilst the County Government of Busia does the enrolment and offers levels 1 through 5 quality health services.
NHIF, on its part, funds healthcare of enrolled households( M+5) in a sustainable manner.
This will be done on a pilot basis before it is scaled-up to cover the whole of Busia County, over and above indigent Busia households being enrolled to NHIF nationally. The support will cover the first 1000 indigent households in Bunyala and scale to 6000 households.
NHIF will do its part of capitation and County will allocate more funds.
MTRH will also support the County Government to offer competitive care to change the current 20% NHIF funding to public facilities.
