MTRH marks Road Safety Week

Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) CEO, Dr. Wilson K. Aruasa, EBS, led MTRH Management and staff in marking Road Safety Week observed from 17th-23rd May, 2021.
Dr. Aruasa led by signing the #Love30 campaign poster at MTRH on Monday 24th May, 2021, a way of promoting the observance of 30Km/H speed limit in designated areas especially within the estates and schools.
The exercise is in accordance to the United Nations General Assembly Declaration of UN new Decade of Action 2021-2030.
This year‘s theme focused on Speed Management and the slogan is ,‘speed for Life‘ through the Hashtag #love30.
The National Road Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) is mandated to promote safe road usage in the country.
MTRH has consistently sensitized motorcycle riders who are often involved in many accidents due to high speed and other traffic-related issues.
The boda boda riders occupy a huge section of MTRH’s Emergency Department, Orthopaedics & Trauma Wards and Neurosurgery Ward.
MTRH-CEO also urged staff to observe road safety rules at all times and emphasized that MTRH incorporates road safety matters in its operation through the appointment of Road Safety Mainstreaming Committee, development and implementation of Road Safety Policy, Transport Policy and staff sensitization.
