Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) Chief Executive Officer Dr. Wilson K. Aruasa,EBS, today 13th September, 2021 handed over a motorized wheelchair to a needy patient, Harun Papa Ekirapa.
The 18-year-old patient was admitted to MTRH Neuro Ward in July 2021 having fell from a tree leading to serious spinal injury.
While handing over the mobility equipment, the CEO said Harun will be able to move around, by himself, as well as engaging in viable activities that can help him earn a living.
He said MTRH took up his medical intervention following an assessment report by the Hospital’s Medical Social Development Department. Subsequently, he was treated under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, with the Hospital settling all his medical requirements totalling Ksh. 500,000.
Dr. Aruasa called on the community of Kocholia in Teso North, to assist in placing Harun in a Vocational Training Course (VTC) to enable him learn and/or acquire skills he can apply to earn a living.
He further urged families to enroll into NHIF on their own or supported under Government of Kenya’s Universal Health Coverage(UHC) program.
