Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) received twenty (20) Zoll Ventilators from US Government through its International Aid Agency-USAID on 18th December, 2020.
The medical equipment is part of American Government contribution to healthcare in the country. While delivering the medical equipment, the USAID Deputy Head of Mission Mr. Patrick Wilson said this donation is the commitment of the people of United States, through their Government, in standing with its International partners through ways that guarantees good health to all. Mr. Wilson was impressed by the International Standards of Healthcare Management at MTRH. MTRH’s function was very elaborate and moved on with precision.
“The US Government through its engagement with Kenyan Government committed to work together to combat COVID-19 pandemic by availing these equipment which will help healthcare workers in managing their patients,” Mr. Wilson said.
MTRH Board Chairman Hon. Joseph Lagat in his remarks thanked US Partners for playing an incredible Developmental role in expansion and healthcare specialization at MTRH.
The CEO, Dr. Wilson K. Aruasa, MBS, EBS, enumerated the achievements spanning 40 years of Strategic Partnerships with a Consortium of Top American Universities led by Indiana University, saying that great partnership has shaped healthcare approach in the Hospital.
Dr. Aruasa said the donated ventilators will scale up the Hospital’s critical care of patients referred from across the region , especially during this time of COVID-19 Pandemic.
The COH, Uasin Gishu County, who represented H.E Governor Jackson Mandago during the ceremony, pledged to continue working closely with MTRH.
While making his remarks, Prof. Sylvester Kimaiyo, Chief of Party, AMPATHPlus/Executive Director Care appreciated the donation noting that ventilation saves lives.
