CEO AND KCB GROUP CHIEF OPERATIONS OFFICER COMMISSION PROJECTS AT MTRH
Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Wilson K. Aruasa, MBS and Kenya Commercial Bank Group Chief Operations Officer, Mr. Samuel Makome on 17th December, 2019 commissioned projects at MTRH that were funded by the Kenya Commercial Bank.
The projects at the Private Wing I (Amenity) include, a patients’ waiting bay, driveway, and Guard’s Office.
Speaking during the ceremony, the KCB Operations Officer, said the Bank is impressed with the partnership between MTRH and KCB. He said since the establishment of a branch at the Hospital, many lives have been touched and changed.
He noted that the strategic relationship is a model one that the foundation has recognized as among other Big KCB engagements. “Our working with MTRH is seamless and comfortable and the bank’s branch has turned out to be the leading profit making one in the entire Country, owing to its attachment with MTRH”, Mr. Makome said. He noted that the two Strategic Partners-MTRH and KCB will hold discussions on other areas of engagement to ensure the people get more benefits in quality healthcare and in financial access through KCB. ” Let’s give our people the best services in all our work, and that way we will ensure they have a better future and quality lives” He said. Mr. Makome was extremely impressed by the way management of MTRH is conducted.
He noted that MTRH is the first institution Kenya to deploy Agency Banking for daily revenue collections, resulting in huge success
While making his remarks, the Hospital CEO, Dr. Aruasa enumerated the engagement the Hospital has with the bank, saying 80% percent of the Hospital revenue is handled through KCB systems which are resilient and reliable.
The CEO said the engagement with the leading Bank in Kenya has seen the Hospital’s operations grow tremendously and hustle free. “Our patients pay for the services they recieve in the wards, pharmacies ,laboratories directly to the bank’s agents who are stationed right inside the patient service points.” Dr. Aruasa said.
He further said the strategic decision to bring the bank to the patient areas is one of MTRH’s core values of good customer experience. ” We want to scale up our services for the comfort of our patients, as their comfort also contributes to the well being” he said. The CEO also noted that the bank handles the entire Hospital staff salaries component,.” That again gives our staff the comfort of accessing their salaries from a bank sitting right in the Hospital premises.
The CEO reiterated that MTRH will also engage KCB in other Hospital’s undertakings, such as implementing the Government of Kenya Universal Health Coverage (UHC), where MTRH is mandated to lead the entire National Referral Health system in UHC implementation. Dr. Aruasa noted that all the strategic relationships MTRH is engaging in have occurred due to the Hospital institutional integrity. “All our staff are guided by personal integrity as they work. That is our culture.”
