Corporate Communication Department at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) is charged with planning, developing and implementing Communication Strategies; coordinating internal and external relations; liaising with and answering enquiries from media, individuals and other organizations, often via telephone and email in consultation with the office of the Chief Executive Officer. The Department is also actively involved in researching, writing and distributing press releases to targeted media; collating and analyzing media coverage; writing and editing in-house publications, speeches and articles.
Further, the Department prepares and supervises production of publicity materials including: brochures, handouts, photographs and multimedia programmes; devising and coordinating photo opportunities; organizing events including press conferences, exhibitions, open days; maintaining and updating information on the website and managing/updating information and engaging with users on social media sites such as Twitter and Facebook. The Corporate Communication Department fosters community relations through events such as outreach activities and medical camps.
The Department is also the custodian of the Hospital’s Complaints Desk. The Office handles all complaints by internal and external parties and processes them through the laid down guidelines (e.g. Commission on Administrative Justice guidelines). The Department also serves as Secretariat to the Institutional Complaints Committee.
