DIRECTORATE OF PAEDIATRICS AND CHILD HEALTH

The Directorate of Paediatrics and Child Health is one of thirteen (13) Directorates of Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital.

We handle clinical needs for children aged from birth to 14 years.

The Directorate staff establishment comprises Specialist Paediatricians, General and Specialized Nurses,- These two teams are backed up by; Nutritionists, Physiotherapists & Occupational therapists, psychologists and a Child Life care Team that provides play therapy.
Paediatric sub-specialty services offered include:

  • Paediatric Haemato-Oncology
  • Paediatric Nephrology
  • Adolescent paediatrics

We offer The following outpatient clinic services:
Paediatric Outpatient Clinic (POPC) – Mondays and Thursdays
Paediatric Neurology Clinic – Thursdays
Paediatric Cardiology Clinic – Fridays
Paediatric Gastroenterology Clinic – Fridays
Newborn Clinic (NOPC) – Fridays
Paediatric Nephrology Clinic -daily
Paediatric Oncology clinic
Paediatric HIV clinic
Adolescent clinic

All these Paediatric services are offered at The Shoe4Africa (SFA) Children’s Hospital and The Prof. James Lemons Newborn unit located at the Riley Mother and Baby Hospital (RMBH).

Shoe4Africa, the 105-Bed Hospital is the largest stand-alone Public Children’s Hospital in the East and Central African Region. It comprises Ambulatory and Emergency Section on the ground floor, Paediatric Surgery, Paediatric Burns, Paediatric Neurosurgery with 2 operating theatres (run by Directorate of surgery) and Oncology wards are on the 1st floor and the paediatric medical wards on second floor.

For our long-stay patients, the Amenities available include a young Children’s play area, a Mini Soccer Pitch, a Basketball Court, a Library and Classrooms.
