EQUITY BANK GROUP CEO LEADS NATIONAL COVID FUND BOARD IN DONATING PPEs TO MTRH

Dr. James Mwangi, the Equity Bank Group CEO and Chairman Health Committee National COVID Fund, with Dr. Jeremy Awori, CEO ABSA Bank and Mr. Narendra Raval Guru donated Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH)to be used by Healthcare Frontline staff as the Country continues to fight the COVID-19 Pandemic. The donation was courtesy of the National COVID Fund Board established by H.E. The President Hon. Uhuru Kenyatta, CGH, in March 2020 to assist in offering appropriate Response & Mitigation to COVID-19 Pandemic in the country.

The COVID Board were received at MTRH by CEO Dr. Wilson K. Aruasa, MBS, on behalf of the MTRH Board of Management. The event took place at MTRH Warehouse on July 15th, 2020 and was witnessed by officers from Equity Bank, ABSA Bank, MTRH Senior Management & Staff.

While receiving the donations Dr. Aruasa appreciated the Government for setting up the COVID Fund Board, noting that the PPEs are part of the new normal requirements while working in hospitals. He further said that the Pandemic has come with important lessons on continual learning, flexibility and adaptability for all leadership and staff in Organizations, MTRH included.

Dr. Mwangi thanked the healthworkers for being dedicated as frontline soldiers in the war against COVID-19 pandemic and that they had come to lend them the required support to go through successfully. He indicated the importance of prudent and appropriate use of PPEs, including the correct level of PPE( levels 1,2,3) according to the tasks at hand. And that they support local industries to manufacture the PPEs to spur the economy as well as make the PPEs affordable.

Dr. Jeremy Awori congratulated the MTRH Management under CEO Dr. Aruasa’s leadership for the great work they do in serving the Western half of Kenya as a specialized referral hospital for over 22 Counties.

Mr. Guru Devki applauded the healthworkers, noting that God uses them to help the people in trying times.

Also present was Mr. Alfred Obengo, Chair National Nurses Association of Kenya.

They were accompanied by; Dr. Joan Korir, General Manager-Equity Afya ,Ms. Lorna Rotich-Manager Equity Main Branch Eldoret, James Yatich Branch Manager, Equity Market Branch and Jane Chelagat, Branch Manager Equity Supreme.

MTRH Team was led by CEO Dr. Wilson Aruasa,MBS, Director Finance Mr. Mathews Birgen, Director Nursing Services Titus Tarus, Director Health Administration Christine Tonui, Director HRM&D Ann Chemworsio, Director Pharmacy Dr. Victor Kipyegon, Supply Chain Manager Mr.Bill Saina, Dr. Simiyu Tabu, Dr. Nicholus Kirui, Dr. Daisy Korir, Florence Tum, Silvia Kadima, Jackline Opondo, Felicity Bowen, Joyce Mutai, Ferdinand Ejakait, Evans Kiprotich, Heads of Departments and Staff.
