{"id":5467,"date":"2026-03-31T10:22:38","date_gmt":"2026-03-31T07:22:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mtrh.go.ke\/?page_id=5467"},"modified":"2026-03-31T10:22:40","modified_gmt":"2026-03-31T07:22:40","slug":"adar-unit","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.mtrh.go.ke\/?page_id=5467","title":{"rendered":"ADAR Unit"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p> The unit was started in 2011 as a partnership between MTRH and the National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The unit offers curative, preventive and rehabilitative alcohol and drug abuse and mental Health services. The Alcohol and Drug Abuse Out-patient service was started in 2017 and runs once a week every Monday. It also serves as a center for clinical placements for both medical and nursing students and interns from neighboring universities and other tertiary colleges.&nbsp;The unit is staffed by a multi-disciplinary team comprising of psychiatrists, nurses, psychological counselors and psychologists, occupational therapists, social workers, and support staff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Currently the unit has a total of 41 beds (8 females and 33 male).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The ADAR out-patient clinic has grown tremendously with attendance quadrupling over the past 5 years from 650 patients in 2017\/2018 to over 2000 patients in 2022\/2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The vision of the Department is to become a Center of Excellence in Clinical Care, Training and Research for alcohol and drug abuse both nationally and regionally.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The unit was started in 2011 as a partnership between MTRH and the National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"parent":288,"menu_order":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","template":"","meta":{"colormag_page_container_layout":"default_layout","colormag_page_sidebar_layout":"default_layout","jetpack_post_was_ever_published":false,"footnotes":""},"class_list":["post-5467","page","type-page","status-publish","hentry"],"jetpack-related-posts":[{"id":288,"url":"https:\/\/www.mtrh.go.ke\/?page_id=288","url_meta":{"origin":5467,"position":0},"title":"Directorate of Mental Health and Rehabilitative Services","author":"admin","date":"December 11, 2023","format":false,"excerpt":"The Department has two units, the Mental Health Unit and the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Rehabilitation (ADA-R) Unit.
