The unit was started in 2011 as a partnership between MTRH and the National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The unit offers curative, preventive and rehabilitative alcohol and drug abuse and mental Health services. The Alcohol and Drug Abuse Out-patient service was started in 2017 and runs once a week every Monday. It also serves as a center for clinical placements for both medical and nursing students and interns from neighboring universities and other tertiary colleges. The unit is staffed by a multi-disciplinary team comprising of psychiatrists, nurses, psychological counselors and psychologists, occupational therapists, social workers, and support staff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Currently the unit has a total of 41 beds (8 females and 33 male).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The ADAR out-patient clinic has grown tremendously with attendance quadrupling over the past 5 years from 650 patients in 2017\/2018 to over 2000 patients in 2022\/2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
