The National Assembly Departmental Committee on Health has commended Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) for prudent budget management and effective utilization of allocated funds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Committee, chaired by Hon. Julius Sunkuli, said its visit was part of Parliament\u2019s oversight mandate over Level Six hospitals to assess the implementation of budgets approved by Parliament.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Committee noted that MTRH had utilized its approved budget prudently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the visit, the Committee toured the ongoing construction of the new MTRH Multi-Specialty Hospital and expressed satisfaction with the progress of the project, which is expected to be completed by April 2027.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Chief Executive Officer Dr. Philip Kirwa said several international partners had expressed interest in collaborating with MTRH to advance various health research programmes at the new Hospital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Addressing the Hospital\u2019s preparedness for Ebola, Dr. Kirwa assured the Committee that MTRH was fully prepared to handle any suspected cases referred to the Hospital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe are the main centre in Western Kenya with the facilities for isolation and treatment of cases,\u201d said Dr. Kirwa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the availability of resources for emergency response, the CEO said MTRH had received medical commodities from the Ministry of Health to support the management of any reported Ebola cases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
