MTRH DEPLOYS FRONTLINE TEAM TO BUSIA COUNTY TO CLEAR TRUCKS BACKLOG

Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) deployed a team of twenty (20) COVID-19 Frontline staff to assist in clearing the traffic snarl up occasioned by truck drivers at Malaba Border point stretching for over 100 kilometres.

The MTRH staff, working with colleagues from the Ministry of Health headquarters under Josephine Wahogo, were mandated to take their samples, run tests and issue COVID attestation/certification to truck drivers and their assistants appropriately. So far, over 3,000 samples have been collected .

MTRH Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Wilson K. Aruasa, MBS today 3rd June, 2020 visited the Team at Webuye, Bungoma County, to offer them moral support as they undertake this challenging assignment.

In his remarks, Dr Aruasa said MTRH is fulfilling the Government’s mandate to Control and Suppress the Virus to enable nomalcy return quickly.

Meanwhile, H.E. The President on Madaraka Day 1st June 2020 recognized and awarded five staff members of MTRH led by the Chief Executive Officer, for the exemplary work in managing COVID-19 Pandemic. The five were conferred with the inaugural Presidential Order of Service- Uzalendo Award, are : Dr. Wilson K. Aruasa,MBS, Dr. Daisy Korir, Dr. Nicholas Kirui, Silvia Kadima and Sr. Jackline Opondo.

The Awards are a testimony of the enormous work MTRH is doing to keep Kenyans safe in the Country.

The CS Health, Hon. Mutahi Kagwe, EGH during his participation in an MTRH- NOREB virtual meeting held on 2nd June, 2020 to discuss the region’s COVID-19 response and other health matters, committed to support MTRH and the Counties in enhancing the capacity to control, suppress and mitigate the pandemic within the region.
