MTRH INTERVENES ON LANDSLIDE DISASTER IN WEST POKOT

Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) is dispatching a Multi Disciplinary Team of 40 Specialists to intervene on the Landslides, Flash Floods and Mudslides Disaster that hit villages in West Pokot County early yesterday.

The Team includes: Three Senior Consultants, Eight Nurses, Ten Clinical Officers, three Public Health Officers, Psychological Counsellors, Pharmacists among others.

Hospital CEO Dr. Wilson K. Aruasa, MBS said the Hospital’s quick intervention is needed to save lives and contain the situation.

MTRH continues to receive injured patients referred from Kapenguria County Referral Hospital and requiring specialized medical care and to provide ongoing psychological counseling to the injured and the bereaved families.

MTRH Team will focus on three camps where Hundreds of displaced people are camped. They include: Nyerkulian Primary school, Parua Primary school and Tamkal Primary school.

The Team leaders of MTRH Multi Disciplinary Teams are HoD, Emergency Medicine- Dr. Simiyu Taabu and Dr. Owen Menach of Ear Nose and Throat (ENT).

The Team members include Dr. Zachary Kasepoi, Consultant Urologist and Selah Plapan, Senior Principal Health Administrator, among others.
