MTRH Receives Consumables from National Public Health Laboratory

Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) Chief Executive Officer Dr. Wilson Aruasa, MBS yesterday received donation in terms of 500 pieces of oropharyngeal swabs, 500 pieces of nasopharyngeal swabs and 500 sets of viral transport media( VTM) from the National Public Health Laboratory services.

The consumables are set to improve MTRH Laboratory’s capacity for COVID-19 sample collection.

Meanwhile, MTRH has set up a second testing laboratory at the Hospital’s Molecular Lab to enhance the current testing capacity and support the Ministry of Health in the testing of truck drivers in North Rift.

The new testing lab will increase the capacity from the current 960 tests per day by 400 to 1,360 tests per day. Training and validation of the new laboratory testing capabilities is ongoing.

At hand to receive the donation were Florence Tum – Director Laboratory Services, Bill Saina – Supply Chain Manager, Ernest Lutomia –Deputy Director Laboratory , Evans Kiprotich – Principal Supply Chain Officer and Jakait Ferdinand – In-charge Inspection.
