MTRH’s roadmap to ISO Certification began in 2006 following the Hospital Board Strategic decision and commitment to assure customers of consistent quality services that enhances and exceeds their expectation. The foundation was laid based on ISO 9001:2000 Quality Management System.
The joint efforts culminated in the Certification of the Hospital to ISO 9001:2008 Quality and Management System Standard on 27th March 2009; making it the first Public Hospital to receive such certification in Kenya from KEBS Certification Body.
MTRH has successfully undergone three re-certifications and a smooth transition to ISO 9001:2015 and has retained its history. Many milestones have been realized as a result of this Certification.
On 15th December 2018, MTRH Medical Laboratory was Accredited to ISO 15189: 2012 Medical Laboratory Standard by Kenya Accreditation Service (KENAS). This means that the tests accredited are reliable, quality and benchmarks the International Standards.
Currently, the Hospital is at an advance stage in implementation towards Certification to:-ISO 45001:2018 Occupational Health and Safety Standard and ISO 27001:2013 Information Security Management System Standard.
All the activities related to Standards in the Hospital are under the Quality Management Representative and his able team in the Secretariat, including 129 trained Internal Auditors and Lead Auditors across the Hospital who closely monitor and continually improve the implemented systems.
