MTRH WELCOMES NEW BOARD MEMBER
Dr. Erneo Nyakiba was today January 17, 2024, inducted into the Board of Directors of Moi Teaching and Referral (MTRH).
The Ag. CEO congratulated Dr. Nyakiba on his appointment to the MTRH Board; charged with providing oversight and stewardship to MTRH Governance.
Dr. Kirwa also conveyed compliments from MTRH Board Chairman Sitoyo Lopokoiyit, MBS, to Director Nyariba.
Dr. Nyakiba brings a wealth of experience and expertise in medicine and health administration.He joins the board as an Independent Member.
“We are confident that Dr. Nyakiba will bring forth valuable input to MTRH Board and he is a great asset to our organization,” Dr. Kirwa added.
The Ag. CEO observed that the Hospital, has recorded milestones due to prudent utilization of resources, culture of quality & safety in healthcare provision as well as quality training of Human Resources for Health and health research.
He said some of the specialized services now offered in MTRH include; Cochlear Implantation, Kidney Transplant, Open Heart Surgery and Corneal Transplant among others.
On infrastructural developments, Dr. Kirwa highlighted the importance of strategic partnerships. MTRH and New-York-based Shoe4Africa Foundation, recently handed over site for the construction of Julie Anne Perry Paediatric Cancer Hospital and Harry J. Dyer Burns Hospital to a contractor. Upon completion, the 162-bed Cancer Hospital and 62-bed Burns Hospital, alongside the existing 120-bed Shoe4Africa Children Hospital, will form a children village complex- the only one of its kind in Sub-Saharan Africa.
The new Board Member lauded MTRH for the Multi-disciplinary approach to service delivery and strategic direction in offering services through sub-specialities.
He was later taken on a guided tour of MTRH Data Centre & High Definition CCTV, Renal Dialysis Centre, Chandaria Cancer & Chronic Diseases Centre, 2,000 PSA Oxygen Generating Plant, Riley Mother and Baby Hospital, New Born Unit and Nawiri Recovery & Skills Centre.
Present at the event were; Dr Benjamin Tarus, Senior Director-Administration & Finance, Dr. Owen Menach, Ag. Senior Director -Clinical Services and Hospital Management Team.
