Directorate of Health Informatics

The Directorate of Health Informatics is a specialized division of Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital, responsible for managing and overseeing all information technology (IT) processes, data management, and digital and Health Records services of patient care. Its primary mission is to ensure that the organization’s technological infrastructure, data systems, and information services operate efficiently and support the overall objectives of the Hospital.  

Key Features of the Directorate:

The Health Informatics Directorate is the centrally responsible for overseeing information management, technology infrastructure and data governance in the Hospital. Typically, in the sectors of healthcare research, and data governance. The directorate ensures that data is efficiently managed, securely stored, and effectively utilized across the institution.

The Directorate of Informatics comprises of four distinct but intertwined Departments, namely:

  1. Information Communication Technology
  2. Records Management
  3. Health Records and Information Services
  4. Telephone Services

Hierarchy of the Directorate;

The Directorate is headed by the Chief Information Officer (CIO), serving under him are the Health Records and Information Services Manager (HRISM) and the Information Communication and Technology Manager (ICTM). Additionally, there are Records Management and Telephone Services Heads of Departments.
