MTRH marks Childhood Cancer Awareness Month

Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) joined the world on 6th September 2024, to mark Childhood Cancer Awareness Month under the theme: “Standing United in the Fight to close the care gaps.”

MTRH urged stakeholders to continue scaling up awareness meant to close the gap on the care of children battling cancer.

Dr. Beatrice Melly, representing MTRH Chief Executive Officer, called on the public to participate in blood donation saying this is the major support to children battling cancer.

Mr. Daniel Komen, Uhai Life Sciences brand ambassador, 5-time world record holder, and former 3000m steeplechase champion, rallied Kenyans to come together and support the fight against the menace.

Faraja Cancer Support Agency which participated during the event, held at MTRH Memorial Wing, emphasized on the importance of community support and blood donations.

Prof. Kaspers and Prof. Lisa from Princess Maxima Center, Netherlands, contributed to the conversation on how everyone can make a difference. They have been supporting MTRH for over a decade.

The event was also graced by well-wishers including Coca Cola Company and Bakeries from Eldoret City.
