MTRH Marks 16 Days of Activism against Sexual and Gender-Based Violence

MTRH today marked the 16 Days of Activism against Sexual and Gender-Based Violence – a global campaign led annually by UN Women.

The CEO Dr. Wilson K. Aruasa, MBS, EBS joined the team on the 12km sensitization/public education walk through Eldoret town. The Chief Guest was Hon. Mercy Jepkurui- Special Elect, Uasin Gishu County Assembly.

During the 16 Days of Activism, people around the world unite to raise awareness about gender-based violence, challenge discriminatory attitudes and call for improved laws to end violence against women for good.

The campaign runs every year from 25th November (International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women) through to 10 December (Human Rights Day). During the 16 Days of Activism, communities around the world join the call to prevent and eliminate violence against women & girls.

MTRH hosts the Centre for Assault Recovery (CAR-E), a Gender Based Violence (GBV) Services Centre that provides medical, counseling, support services to victims of GBV. We also have Legal Aid Centre-Eldoret(LAC-E) based in AMPATH, MTRH which assists Survivors of Sexual and Gender Based Violence.

Accompanying the CEO and Chief Guest was Hon. Caroline Cherono (UG County Assembly), Soroptimist Organization, AMPATH, Moi University and the Hospital Management Team.
