Eyesight is Key to Leading a Quality Life – MTRH CEO
A healthy eyesight is essential for leading a quality life, making sound decisions, and avoiding injuries associated with poor vision.
Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Philip Kirwa, underscored this while flagging off the 2025 World Sight Day celebrations, coordinated by the Hospital’s Ophthalmology Department.
Dr. Kirwa emphasized that eyesight is a vital body function that supports judgment, perception, and decision-making.
He encouraged individuals experiencing eye-related challenges to seek care at the Hospital’s Eye Department, noting that the unit conducts advanced corrective surgeries that have restored sight and transformed the lives of many patients.
MTRH offers Corneal Transplant, which has successfully restored clear vision to many people across the country and beyond since its inception.
Former MTRH Board Member, Dr. Michael Gichangi, who joined in the celebrations, commended the Ophthalmology team for their outstanding work and dedication to excellence in eye care.
MTRH Senior Director of Clinical Services, Dr. Andrew Wandera, reiterated the importance of eye health, describing the eye as “a vital window to life.” He urged everyone to embrace this year’s theme, “Love Your Eyes,” by prioritizing regular eye check-ups and promoting eye health awareness.
