MTRH marks World Oral Health Day

Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) today, 20th March 2025, marked the World Oral Health Day (WOHD).World Oral Health Day, commemorated annually on 20th March, aims to raise awareness on fundamental oral health issues. The theme for this year is: ” A happy mouth is a happy mind.”

MTRH in partnership with the Ministry of Health, held a free dental and medical camp at Mosoriot KMTC Campus, sponsored by Nandi County Government and BFL International among other sponsors.

The camp has been running from March 17 to March 20, 2025, with over 3,000 patients benefiting from free healthcare and oral services offered.

MTRH CEO Dr Philip Kirwa who was in attendance, urged the community to register with Social Health Authority (SHA) so that they can enjoy the services. He added that oral health is critical and everyone should practice good oral hygiene.

The PS Public Health, Ms. Mary Muriuki, applauded the community health promoters for the good work they are doing in ensuring continuous registration of Kenyans into SHA.

She thanked the CS for the support she has given the State Department of Public Health and Professional Standards and also announced that the dental package has now been included into SHA.

The CS Health, Dr. Deborah M. Barasa, commissioned the KMTC Mosoriot Dental Clinic and launched the Community Oral Health Department.
