Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (‎MTRH) joined the rest of the world in marking World Antimicrobial Awareness Week today, November 18, 2025.

‎The event commenced with a walk through the Eldoret City Streets flagged off by CEO Dr. Philip Kirwa with the aim to raise awareness about antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and promote responsible use of antimicrobials.

‎The walk was part of activities under the theme : “Act Now: Protect Our Present, Secure Our Future” emphasizing the need for coordinated action against AMR.

‎”I call on health professionals to champion rational use of antibiotics; every appropriate prescription, every clean pair of hands, and every informed decision contributes to a safer future,” said Dr Kirwa.

‎This global campaign aims to raise awareness about antimicrobial resistance, a growing threat to health, food systems, environment, and economies.

‎There is a need for urgent, coordinated action across sectors, both human and animal health.

‎The goal is to address AMR’s impact on global health, recognizing it’s a shared responsibility requiring immediate, sustained action.
